Roofing
Roof forms the uppermost structural part of the building which protects the building from the weather. Apart from this basic feature, it adds a lot to the aesthetic looks also.
Concrete Roofing
Concrete roofs are exactly what they sound like. They are strong, durable and will stand the test of time. Additionally, they are not as susceptible to wind uplift, unlike other types of roofs.
Tiled roofing
Mangalore tiled roofing is the most common traditional way of roofing in Kerala. Nowadays, a variety of tiles made of different materials are available in the market. Depending on our choice, we have concrete, plastic, clay (ceramic/porcelain), slate and glass tiles.
Shingles
It is the modern version of tiled roofing. Shingles are available in different colours and sizes and are made of different materials (asphalt, wood, slate). Shingles are laid over smooth plain surfaces and they enhance the overall aesthetic appearance of the building.
Sheet roofing
Sheet roofs are light and economical. Some commonly used sheets are Aluminum roofing sheets, Polycarbonate roofing sheets and corrugated roofing sheets (metallic or cement) which are available in desired colours. Though sloped roofing adds to the aesthetic looks, extra care is needed while constructing slopes to avoid water leakages and cracks. Waterproofing is strongly recommended for concrete sloped roofs. Nowadays, Sloped roofing using structural steel truss over flat concrete roofs are becoming more common as they are more advantageous over sloped concrete roofs.
